What is KEJARA System?

Recently, some of my friends ask me about what is KEJARA points.  So I planned to do some reading to get details about it to publish into my blog.

Here it goes.

KEJARA points is a demerit system implemented by our JPJ to award demerit points to drivers of motor vehicles who have been convicted of scheduled offences under the Motor Vehicles (Demerit Points) Rules 1997.

JPJ

It is a short form of KEselamatan JAlan RAya.

What is the objectives of this system?

  • To increase awareness of drivers on the importance of complying with road traffic laws and rules
  • To create disciplined, responsible and considerate drivers.
  • To help the government reduce the accident rate.

Every offences will have different demerit points.

For e.g.

  • Reckless or dangerous driving will have 15 demerit points.
  • Failing to obey traffic light will have 10 demerit points.
  • Disobeying traffic directions and signs will have 5 demerit points.
  • and etc.

When you convicted to 1 of the offence, you will be given some demerit points. The more points you have, the more serious penalties will impose to you.

So, i urge every people to drive safely in the roads.

Nobody can help you except yourself.
