Nissan Grand Livina Is A Higher And Longer Latio

Finally, the all-new Nissan Grand Livina is launched. I have waited this moment to come since I knew that Nissan was going to launch a new MPV several months ago. The selling theme this time for this MPV is “Drives like a sedan, Fits like an MPV”.

Without much anticipation, I went to a Nissan showroom located at Serdang Raya to have a look. When I reached there, they were just preparing a small buffet lunch. I was lucky enough to have a free light meal!

From the first look, it gave me a sense of similarity with Latio. The model that sat inside the showroom was 1.8 L A/T equiped with aero bodykit and half leather seat. When I looked inside its interior, the word ‘Grand’ for Livina did not lie to me. It realy did the job. I immediately felt the comfort and luxury feel flowing outside when I opened the front door. The interior shares the same characteristics with Latio. Not much different. For those who can accept Latio’s interior design, might be able to get use to this Grand Livina without much problem.   

I passed my IC to the sales guy for a test drive registration. But only 1.6 cc model was available for test drive. I stood in queue number 2 which I thought was lucky for me. I started the engine and needless to say that Nissan got a very nice engine note. Soft and silence. Here we go with this new MPV from Nissan taking 3 person including me inside.

During accelaration, I somewhat felt the car was under power. But this is depends on different people needs. It may seems under power for me but not others. The feeling of driving this MPV was as good as driving a sedan. Gear changing was smooth. Its suspension is good too thanks to the ripple control shock absorbers.

Don’t be fool by its lenght. It has a very tight minimum turning radius which is 5.2 m. I tested it and it really can turn the way you want it to be.

As usual, this MPV is packed with basic safety features such as ABS (Anti-lock Brake System), EBD (Electronic Braking System) and BA (Brake Assist). Not to forget that there are dual SRS front air bags installed. It comes with 2 model which are 1.6 cc and 1.8 cc.

The prices as on 23 Dec 2007 is

• 1.6 L M/T - RM 82,800.00
• 1.6 L A/T - RM 86,600.00
• 1.8 L A/T - RM 95,300.00

All prices shown above inclusive of insurance.

Attractive price, issn’t it? I think it should be priced a little bit more based on its built quality.  This car sure will attract lots of buyers. At the moment of writing this blog, the sales guy told me that they have received more than 50 bookings for their branch alone and more than 2000 bookings for all branches in Malaysia. That is a good start for this Nissan Grand Livina. A big clap!

   lepas je pandu uji 1.8, terus je tempah 1,8(Lux).apatah lagi boleh trade in kereta sedia ada dan budget cukup untuk 1.8-lebih power than 1.6. Saya fikir untuk jangka masa panjang dan jika muatan ramai atau banyak, 1.8 lebih baik.Tidakle timbul soal underpower.

   I have test drive innova, naza ria and nissan livina and going through all considerations ..naza ria (maintenance issues? n high road tax) , innova (ugly looking orang tua vehicle, pricey for G specs)I settle for Nissan Livina 1.8 specs. I believe this car have it all : power/weight ratio, fun factor due to it’s sleek design, drive like a sedan. Thnk U for your review which makes my decison easier.

   dear esmond, can you give more description about it’s interior aspect, comparing with stream and wish. my opinion the 2nd row seat not very comfortable for the passenger, esp long journey. i’ve never get into the other two

    hi darn, the comfortability issues is somewhat a subjective matter. It really depends on individual taste and preference.

    In terms of spacious, this MPV is really enough for me as I am 5′ 10″. Well, I think seating for long distance in the 2nd row shouldn’t be any problem to me. It has an air-cond vent at the center of the cabin to cool down the 2nd row rear passenger seat directly. Good features to me because I easily sweat! Its basic standard seat made of woven velour which I think is quite comfortable too. If you opt for a leather seat, you can add a little more luxurious feel inside.

    I booked my GL yesterday and ordered 1.6M with
    grey metallic colour.. SA called me that due to popular demand i only get my GL middle 2008 (June).. they are offering 2 types of color.. white and silver can be delivered within few weeks …which i dont preffered…i called my sa to cancel the book only to find that they came to my house with the Orange GL just to have it test ( never had test drive before)and falling in love with it( the GL of cos)change my mind and take the white instead….

    Order my GL on 22 December, till date still don’t receive the car. I was told by my SA that ETC still not yet deliver them. Unless I want year 2007 model then I can get it now..is it true?

    hi ben, I wasn’t sure about this too. But my sister book GL auto on last month and she told me that she will get her car by 22nd of Jan.
    I am in doubt wheather the SA is lying or not.

    If your SA told you that you can get year 2007 model immediately, why not go ahead coz you are on the advantage side. Is better than getting a Dec 2007 model which is already 1 year older.

    Hi! I booked my GL 1.6M on 23 Dec. Sales Rep. told me I will get during 1 month but till today still not receive yet. I ask Customer Service through email and they rang me up and told that I only will get my GL end of February.

    Firstly I choose Grey colour but change my mind to Black coz look more elegance to me If all 5 glasses behind I put tinted. Can wait la coz I saw to person near my area already have it.

    Hi Celine, I just took a look at the Toyota Rush yesterday. Erm, actually I cannot compare these GL with Toyota Rush because both of them are in different categories. One is SUV and another is MPV. The MPV is more to family kind of vehicles and SUV is more to rough usage.

    But both of them share 1 same features which is 7-seater. If I am not wrong, I think this is the reason that make you confuse wheather which to choose…right?

    If you do not have an MPV yet, I think you should better choose GL because in future when your family grows, a MPV is a must. If MPV already inside your hp ownership, then having a SUV vehicle is a very nice options because this type of car is more stable and safety in the road.

    Yeah, you are correct. The third row seats is quite small which I think is more suitable to children. But the second row seat can be moved forward a little bit so that the passenger at the third row seat can be more comfortable instead of cramping their legs.
