The Engine is Beating

These 2 days event which were held yesterday on 29-30 Dec 07 at South City Plaza have attracted hundreds of ICE die hard fans there. For those of you who does not know what is ICE, let me have the pleasure to explain to you about this fancy term. ICE is the shortform of (In Car Entertainment), the words that is well known among fans in audio sound and bass setup inside our car.

Being one of a die hard fans of ICE, I have taken this golden opportunity to join in the event. Not as a contestant but as a visitor due to my current ICE setup in my car does not allow me to so. In order for you to participate, you need at least a complete ICE setup which consists of amplifiers, components speaker, woofer, crossover, pre-amp and etc. If not, you will be kick-out during pre-screening by the judges.

While contestants coming from Kuala Lumpur, there are contestants from Penang, Perak, Terengganu and Johor too. Needless to say, teenagers outnumbered the middle age people in this kind of hobby. Most of the ICE cars are modified with big exhaust pipe, huge rims and sprayed with sharp colors.

There are few categories of competitions. Not to mention all, I only listed down Adam’s Digital 2 woofer and 4 woofer category. What is Adams Digital? It is one of the famous brand of car audio system from Denmark available in the market. It can produce very high decible (db) results and even can make you win any car competition if setup properly by ICE specialist.

The excited moment began when every contestants car move into the sound testing area one by one. Here, their car was tested by a sound measuring devices which can give an accurate measurement in db (decible). As you can see in the picture below, few of the judges help out to install the equipment.

All contestants car will play the same song at the same volume to ensure fair and accurate scoring. Their woofer bass is tested for 1 minute. The device will automatically sense the loudness of the woofer in db. After the first try, if the score measured is not up to the contestants satisfaction, he will be given another 2 minutes to adjust his ICE setup to test again. Due to time constraint, every contestant can only have 2 tries.

Ahh..This is my favourite ICE setup from Stellar brand. Clean, neat and good workmanship.

Among the contestants car, the ICE setup that I like most is the one with Stellar brand. It has 4 15 inch woofer which is enough to blow you away. This setup manages to produce 146.8 db. What an incredible bass it has! I like the feel of beating by its bass. It can shake your whole body!

Well, the final results in Adams Digital category are

• 2 woofer category - Champion with 166.2 db
• 4 woofer category - Champion with 165.5 db
